Vintage 2005
The 2005 vintage has already become a legend, and is widely considered one of the finest in living memory. However, overall production in Bordeaux was small (8% less than in 2004). We decided to reduce yields even further to obtain ripe, healthy, concentrated grapes with just the right balance. The resulting wine is superb. 2005 Clarendelle rouge is simply outstanding.
The first thing that strikes one about the 2005 Clarendelle is the intensity so typical of the vintage. Not only does this wine have a fine, rich flavor but, unusually, considerable concentration on the middle palate and finish. Relatively high acidity provides wonderful depth and enhances the wine's intrinsic fruitiness. The tannin becomes smoother with aeration, giving 2005 Clarendelle a great, velvety texture.
Merlot: 82% - Cabernet Franc: 5% ; Cabernet Sauvignon: 13%
Ideal serving temperature: 18°C - 20°C (65-68°F)
We would recommend opening the wine and decanting one hour prior to serving.
