THE 2021 VINTAGE

The 2021 vintage was shaped by the whims of nature. Cold spells during spring set the tone, followed by consistently high rainfall throughout the growth cycle, resulting in an unprecedented threat of vine diseases. The weather warmed up somewhat in late spring, with temperatures conducive to good ripening.

The broadly “cool” summer yielded grapes with promising acidity levels, making for attractive, fruity and aromatic wines.
Our selection of rosé wines come from dedicated plots, harvested slightly later this year, in the last two weeks of September.
Thanks to direct pressing and very short maceration in a controlled atmosphere, the wines have a beautiful pale-pink colour, as well as a rich and smooth palate.

Tasting Notes

2021 Clarendelle Bordeaux Rosé retains that pale colour, with an iridescent, salmon-pink hue. The nose is powerful, with wonderful hints of tropical fruit led by lychee and pomegranate. This is a solid, well-balanced wine, framed by a smooth tannic structure.
The palate is accented with menthol and liquorice notes, accompanied by peppery overtones from the Cabernet as well as tropical hints of grapefruit.
Without ever losing that beautiful, tangy freshness, the wine is rich and indulgent, lingering long on the palate.

THE 2020 VINTAGE

2020 produced an early-ripening, well-balanced vintage.
After a mild winter, the weather began to change, with heavy rainfall providing the necessary water reserves to support the vines over the summer.
Bud break occurred late February before the sun returned in April and May, conducive to early, even flowering.
Hot, dry conditions settled in from late June onwards but gave way to storms in mid-August. Véraison (colour change) took place mid-July under this ideal spell of weather. The grapes reached optimum ripeness thanks to their very healthy state, up until picking.
Our selection of rosé wines come from dedicated plots, harvested in early September. They display excellent balance between sugar and acidity and an intrinsic fruitiness due to
cool nights in August.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant pale salmon-pink colour.
The nose is dominated by wonderfully ripe Merlot bursting with sweetness and freshness, revealing notes of blackcurrant and tangy raspberries.
Strawberry and grapefruit overtones follow through to the palate, accompanied by hints of spice contributed by the Cabernets.
An impressively long, flavoursome and high-quality finish, underpinned by crunchy, delicious fruit flavours and superb freshness.
2020 Clarendelle Rosé is beautifully balanced while preserving all its mineral character.

THE 2019 VINTAGE

Every vintage has its own surprises, with 2019 being remembered as a year full of contrasts in the Bordeaux region.
The heatwave in late June/early July came as a sign of relief for winegrowers. The radical change in the weather conditions resulted in July being the hottest month of the decade. Several much-welcomed rainstorms in late July paved the way for véraison, or colour change, which took place evenly, thanks to the efforts of winegrowers during the month of August.
For several years, the weather conditions in late summer have produced very fine vintages in Bordeaux, made from exceptionally healthy grapes. This year looks set to follow this trend, joining the ranks of the finest vintages ending in “9”!
Our selected rosé wines come from dedicated plots, picked in mid-September. The wines display very good balance between sugar and acidity and an intrinsic fruitiness thanks to the cool evening temperatures in August.

Tasting Notes

This wine is a brilliant pale rose petal colour. The nose is emblematic of the Clarendelle Rosé style, with notes of tangy redcurrants and raspberries, alongside ripe citrus fruit, underscored by aromas of strawberries, blackcurrant buds, and boiled sweets.
Starts out delicious and round on the palate with a great deal of freshness. A very fruity, well-balanced, and elegant wine.

THE 2018 VINTAGE

A rainy winter and spring enabled the soil to store up significant water reserves. Fortunately, the humid weather did not upset flowering. Summertime marked the arrival of hot days and cool nights, which dried out the soil, kept the vines healthy, and provided ideal sun exposure conducive to producing perfectly ripe grapes until the harvest.
Our selected rosé wines come from dedicated plots, picked in early September. The wines feature very good balance between sugar and acidity and an intrinsic fruitiness due to the cool evening temperatures in August.

Tasting Notes

The colour is particularly pale this year, resembling a delicate rose petal. The nose displays the Clarendelle Rosé style, with hints of tangy redcurrants and raspberries, alongside ripe fruit (pink grapefruit and lychee).
Round, very mineral, and slightly saline on the palate, Clarendelle Rosé is altogether delicious. The wines are rich, well-concentrated, and perfectly balanced. A great success for one of the most memorable Bordeaux vintages!

THE 2016 VINTAGE

Our oenologists are pleased and satisfied: 2016 gives every indication of being a remarkable vintage in Bordeaux, both in terms of quality and quantity. The wines are deeply-coloured, fruity, and concentrated. This is wonderful news because year did not start out very propitiously, with poor spring weather. However, this was followed by a very dry summer. The limited rainfall in early September and Indian summer during the harvest enabled the grapes to ripen magnificently, paving the way for a beautiful vintage. Our selected rosé wines come from dedicated plots, picked in September or October depending on the maturity of the different grape varieties. The grapes were in tip-top condition.

Tasting Notes

Thanks to very short maceration in a controlled atmosphere and direct pressing, the wine has a beautiful pale pink colour as well as a rich, smooth flavour. The powerful bouquet features floral aromas such as rose, as well as fruity overtones of blood orange, apricot, and grapefruit. The aromatic complexity on the nose carries over onto the palate, which includes lovely flavours of ripe fruit like redcurrant. The wine is suave and concentrated, while remaining tremendously fresh.
A truly elegant vintage for Clarendelle Rosé!

THE 2015 VINTAGE

A great year for Bordeaux.
2015 was one of the hottest years since 1947. Thanks to a significant amount of precipitation in winter, the soil retained enough water to cope with the extremely hot, dry weather in July and August.
The grapes ripened perfectly, attaining high sugar levels but without any scorching.
Light showers alternated harmoniously with sunshine in September, allowing fully ripe grapes to be harvested serenely.

Tasting Notes

2015 Clarendelle Rosé is a blend of wines pressed directly after pre-fermentation maceration. These were then fermented at low temperature before ageing on the lees.
The wine has a pink rose petal colour and the nose is very fruity, with such aromas as grapefruit and lychee.
The wine is silky, elegant, and vinous on the palate, with a beautiful long aftertaste.

THE 2014 VINTAGE

An exceptionnal and sunny month of September provided the winemakers with the ideal conditions for the harvest. Benefiting from this hot indian summer, the grapes were able to ripen perfectly, providing us with a stunning vintage. 2014 will be remembered as a very good year in Bordeaux.
2014 Clarendelle Rosé is a blend of wine made from directly pressed juice and bled from vats of macerating red wine in equal parts. The wines were racked at the end of the fermentation, but some lees were left behind in the vats for three months further ageing.

Tasting Notes

At first one is charmed by the wine’s beautiful pale pink colour. On the palate one discovers intense aromas of blackcurrant, passion fruits and wild strawberries. The mouthfeel is quite vivacious and silky, culminating with an enchanting freshness. A decidedly seductive wine.

THE 2013 VINTAGE

This year gave winegrowers and oenologists ample opportunity to demonstrate their unique skills. A warm, dry summer (especially the month of July) enabled the vines to overcome the negative effects of a wet spring.
The 2013 harvest was nevertheless tate throughout Bordeaux, which is why this is often called «a winemaker’s vintage». The fine wines reflect the expertise of winegrowers, cellar masters, and oenologists!

THE 2012 VINTAGE

Perfect harvesting conditions under a warm sunshine in Bordeaux ensured a qualitative 2012 vintage despite lower yields. Spring was very humid, delaying the flowering. Véraison (colour change) was slow and uneven, and the grapes took time to reach maturity. Fortunately, sunshine returned to the vinyards during the essential summer months which allowed the grapes to ripen.

Tasting Notes

Rosé wine drawn off from vats of red wine grapes was concentrated with an intense well-defined pink colour.
This well- balanced, rich and velvety wine exhibits an exuberance ensuring not only a delicious but refreshing rosé. The 2012 Clarendelle Rosé slowly reveals hints of wild strawberry, redcurrant and blackberry.

THE 2011 VINTAGE

Weather in Bordeaux was fickle this year, with drought conditions in spring, particularly hot temperatures in May and June, and an unstable summer featuring both storms and heat waves.
Flowering took place three weeks ahead of time, but this head start was largely lost during summer, leaving vegetative growth and then ripening to take place slowly.
The size of the crop was low, but the juice was concentrated with high sugar levels and powerful tannin.

Tasting Notes

Blend from vats of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes after short maceration, 2011 Clarendelle is a vinous, concentrated rosé.
It already has an attractive, intense, brilliant colour. The wine is immensely pleasurable with strong strawberry and blackcurrant aromas as well as tangy redcurrant nuances.
The tannic structure is dense and balanced, and the aftertaste is long, aromatic, and tasty.

THE 2010 VINTAGE

Except for the cool, rather wet weather during flowering, which was often spread out, the 2010 growing season was warm, but not excessively so (especially in August). The small, concentrated berries produced yields some 20% lower than in 2009.
